Delegations from Vietnam and Cambodia Arrive in Ulan-Ude
Today, August 12, official delegations from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Cambodia were welcomed in Buryatia.
The delegation from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is headed by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Vu Tien Thang. It also includes Counselor and Envoy of the Embassy of Vietnam in the Russian Federation Le Quang Anh, Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Vietnam Hoang Minh Thang, and Director of the Institute for the Study of Religions at the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences Tyu Van Tuan.
The delegation from the Kingdom of Cambodia includes Secretary of State for the Ministry of Cults and Religions Say Amnan, Director of the Department for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Cults and Religions Keo Khantheimethea, and Buddhist teacher at the Ministry of Cults and Religions Pha Sophea.
“Our delegation is participating in the International Buddhist Forum “Traditional Buddhism and ModernChallenges” for the second time. We are happy to return to Buryatia and discuss the development of Buddhism, Buddhist culture, philosophy, and practice. It is a great honor and pleasure for us to be part of this international event,” noted Say Amnan.
The II International Buddhist Forum “Traditional Buddhism and Modern Challenges” is being held in Buryatia from August 12 to 14, 2024, at the initiative of the Head of Buryatia, Alexey Tsydenov, with the support of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The forum aims to create a new platform for international dialogue and comprehensive discussions on the development of Buddhism, Buddhist culture, philosophy, and practice, while promoting scientific, educational, and cultural cooperation among Buddhist organizations from different countries. The forum will be attended by representatives from 15 countries: Bangladesh, Belarus, Brazil, Bhutan, Vietnam, India, Cambodia, China, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Japan. The total number of participants is expected to exceed 600.
The forum is organized by the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia, the Government of the Republic of Buryatia, and the Foundation for the Promotion of Buddhist Education and Research, with support from the Roscongress Foundation.
