Delegations from foreign countries are arriving in Buryatia
On Sunday, August 11, representatives of Myanmar and India - participants in the II International Buddhist Forum – arrived in Ulan-Ude
Buddhist monks from India and Myanmar, Lobsang Zhalsan and Ashin Nyanissara, have arrived in Buryatia. The Honorable Geshe Lobsan Zhalsan is the Director of the Geluk Tradition International Foundation and the former Khamba Lama of Homan Datsan in India. Venerable Geshe Lobsan Zhalsan has already visited the Ivolginsky Datsan, where he met with the Head of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia, Khambo Lama Damba Ayusheev.
The 87-year–old Ashin Nyanissara is a well-known Buddhist monk and public figure in Myanmar, the founder of the Sitagu International Buddhist Academy, the holder of the highest monastic title in Myanmar’s existing system, Abhijajamaharatthaguru. He is also recognized as a spiritual mentor to presidents and considered the de facto patriarch of Myanmar.
In the coming days, guests from Myanmar and India will have a busy three-day work at the II International Buddhist Forum. Participants will discuss various aspects of the development of Buddhism, Buddhist education, the values of Buddhist and national culture, the traditions of Oriental medicine in modern life, as well as issues related to interaction between Buddhist and secular organizations.
The II International Buddhist Forum "Traditional Buddhism and Modern Challenges" (6+) will be held from August 12 to 14, 2024 in Buryatia. It will be attended by representatives of 15 countries: Bangladesh, Belarus, Brazil, Bhutan, Vietnam, India, Cambodia, China, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Japan.
