The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the People's Republic of China supports holding the II International Buddhist Forum
On Tuesday, April 23, the delegation from the Republic of Buryatia headed by Alexey Tsydenov went to Lhasa, the capital of the Xizang (Tibetan) Autonomous Region, where they will discuss issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism through Buddhism.
– Everyone who has visited Xizang (Tibet - ed.) has already seen the prosperity and development of this region. "Dear Alexey Sambuevich, you are already an honored guest and you will be able to see the peace and prosperity of this indigenous territory in China," said Mr. Liu Bin, Director-General, Department of European-Central Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, People's Republic of China, at a meeting on Monday.
He also noted that China supports holding the II International Buddhist Forum "Traditional Buddhism and Modern Challenges", which will be held in Ulan-Ude from August 12 to 14. He also said that they would send a delegation to participate in it. "We support the development and strengthening of interreligious ties between the Republic of Buryatia and Xizang," added the director of the Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in China.
The first International Buddhist Forum "Traditional Buddhism and Modern Challenges" was held in Buryatia on August 17-19, 2023. It gathered more than 600 representatives of various governmental, scientific and educational institutions, religious organizations and associations, including participants from 13 foreign countries: China, India, Nepal, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Czech Republic, Laos, Bhutan, Cambodia and the Republic of Belarus.
The forum is organized by the Government of the Republic of Buryatia, the Foundation for the Promotion of Buddhist Education and Research, the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia with the support of the President of Russia, the Government of Russia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
