Vladimir Putin Welcomes Participants of the II International Buddhist Forum

President of Russia Vladimir Putin welcomed the participants of the II International Buddhist Forum, noting that discussions in Ulan-Ude will continue on a wide range of issues related to the promotion of Buddhism's philosophy and culture in the world, based on fundamental humanistic values that hold enduring universal significance.

"Dear friends!

I greet you on the occasion of the opening of the II International Buddhist Forum.

It is gratifying that your forum has received serious support from believers, religious and public organizations, scholars, and theologians from many countries. Today, you have gathered once again in hospitable Ulan-Ude to continue a thoughtful and engaged discussion on a wide range of issues related to the promotion of Buddhism's philosophy and culture in the world, founded on fundamental humanistic values that have lasting universal significance. Of course, you will need to develop unified approaches in response to modern global challenges.

I am pleased to note that Buddhists in Russia carefully preserve the unique historical and spiritual heritage of their ancestors, instilling in the younger generation respect for the distinctive culture and traditions of their fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers. The significant contribution of Buddhist organizations to maintaining peace, harmony, and mutual understanding in society, as well as to the development of interfaith and intercultural dialogue, deserves special recognition. This rich experience can also be valuable in other countries.

I am confident that this forum will proceed in a creative and constructive manner, contributing to the strengthening of international humanitarian cooperation and the implementation of joint projects.

I wish you all the best."
