Head of Buryatia: The International Buddhist Forum is another point of interaction between Russia and the world

"The idea of the International Buddhist Forum appeared in the spring of 2022 as another point of interaction and unification of Russia with the world," Alexey Tsydenov, Head of Buryatia, said at the final press conference of the II International Buddhist Forum.“

- Russia is a multinational, multi-religious country. It is a country with regions professing a Buddhist religion as well. It can serve as another element that unites our country with the world and it opens the way for establishing contacts with other countries. These two years have shown that Buddhism is that connecting channel, through which we can discuss culture, economics, ecology, medicine and tourism with different countries. And the interest in this event is only growing," the Head of Buryatia stressed.

Alexey Tsydenov noted that 600 people took part in the forum last year. This year, according to preliminary results, 1.8 thousand people from 15 foreign countries and 22 regions of Russia took part in discussion panels, the plenary session and other events of the forum. More than 3,000 people attended all the events of the forum, including Buddhist teachings and sports festivals.

Dymbryl Dashibaldanov, the Rector of the Buddhist University, noted that after two days of the forum the final resolution was developed and adopted, and it will become a new starting point for further cooperation with the scientific and religious community.
