Delegates from 15 countries will take part in the II International Buddhist Forum

At a press conference broadcast live by TASS, the Head of Buryatia spoke about the program and participants of the II International Buddhist Forum, titled “Traditional Buddhism and Modern Challenges.”

“The forum will be attended by foreign ambassadors, rectors of Buddhist universities, representatives of public and scientific organizations, and Buddhist clergy.

There are many participants from 15 countries. The largest delegations are from India and China, as they are the largest countries practicing Buddhism. Additionally, delegates from Laos, Cambodia, Bhutan, Vietnam, Nepal, Korea, and Japan will be present. Participants from the West will also come. Sri Lanka has a large delegation. That is, 15 countries. We are glad to welcome everyone and I am sincerely grateful to everyone who responded to our invitation and found the opportunity to join us,” said Alexey Tsydenov.

The Head of Buryatia also mentioned that the forum participants will have a rich program.

August 12:

- Martial Arts Festival on the main square of Ulan-Ude;

- Master class by Shaolin monks at one of the best Wushu schools in Russia – Sports School No. 18 “Golden Dragon”;

- International Scientific Conference “Buddhism in a Changing World” at the Institute of Mongolian Studies, Buddhology and Tibetology SB RAS;

- Exhibition “Masterpieces of Buddhist Buryat Art from the State Hermitage Museum” at the National Museum;

- Vibrant concert featuring the masters of art at the Buryat State Opera and Ballet Theater;

On August 13, the forum will officially open at the Sports and Fitness Complex of Ulan-Ude.

On August 14, the forum will continue on the territory of the Ivolginsky datsan "Khambyn Khure", the center of the Buddhist traditional Sangha of Russia.
