The development of human consciousness will be discussed by scientists at the II International Buddhist Forum

This was announced by Alexey Maslov, Director of the Institute of Asian and African Countries at Moscow State University and President of the Foundation for the Promotion of Buddhist Education and Research.

“At the forum, we pay a lot of attention to the scientific approach to Buddhism. It is not merely an object of faith or religious worship; it is an avenue for developing one’s consciousness. This, of course, should be conducted on a scientific basis,” Alexey Maslov stressed.

He also recalled that in the 19th century, Russia was one of the largest countries systematically exploring Buddhism. It was Russian Buddhist scholars who translated the main Buddhist texts into Russian, English, and French during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Russia was one of the leading countries in the scientific study of Buddhism, and participants at the II International Buddhist Forum will place significant emphasis on this scientific approach.
